WDC Chapter Officers for 2006 - 2008

During its May regular meeting the WDC chapter elected new officers to serve through the 2008 chapter year. Terms of the new officers begin July 1, 2006.  The newly elected officers are:

Click here to get info about the next WDC Chapter business meeting which are held  at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Building in Southwest Washington, DC on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7 - 9 PM Regular business meeting are held at this location from September thru May each year.  The DAV building is located at 807 Maine Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC 20024.  Click here for a map and directions to this location.  Following are 2006 - 2007 meeting dates:

Tennessee State University Crowned National Champion at 18th Annual HBCU Academic Challenge


The Best & Brightest of America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities Shine at Honda Campus All-Star Challenge

 

Tennessee State showcased their skills and intellect by quickly and accurately answering questions on world history, science, literature, religion, the arts, social sciences, popular culture and African-American history and culture. They topped second place finisher, Florida A&M University, to claim the championship and take home $50,000 in grant money for their school.

News Around Campus

TSU Public Relations brought the delivery room to Kean Hall in January at the Faculty Institute.   Dr. Ed Graves was the “obstetrician” delivering TSU Insider, an electronic magazine Public Relations is launching in February 2006.  The publication was named by alumna Shirley Calvin, who is earning her master’s in public administration.  Featuring news and accomplishments from across the university TSU Insider will be a bi-monthly publication sent by email with a subscribe/unsubscribe function.  Be on the look-out for your copy.  Contact TSU Public Relations here.

Hank Crawford gets his due!

TSU alum and Memphis soul-jazz legend Hank Crawford got his start with Ray Charles in 1958 and is still going strong. Genius in his own right, Renaissance Gala headliner Hank Crawford took Ray Charles's offer, blazed soul-jazz trail.
